Byoungho Kim's work, with its product-like visuals representing the culmination of a work, is meticulously planned as both a product and artwork. Consequently, any effects arising from chance are excluded from his work Not unlike a product manual, every component of the work is quantified and standardized, and each step is documented in design drawings and presented in a manual for the assembly of individual units. These "assembled sculptures" shatter our expectations of traditional sculpture, presenting a completely different form and attitude. Alongside the production process, the work places equal emphasis on the rhythmic cadence generated by the repetition of standardized shapes and the visual impact of a smooth finish. Through the repetitive patterns of group composition, the artist naturally incorporates a dematerialized experience into his work, blurring the lines of materiality.
